Laurinda Calongne is President and Founder of Robert Rose Consulting (RRC), a health care policy, community development and governmental relations firm located in Baton Rouge. In 2007, RRC became a strategic partner with The Livingston Group, a Washington DC firm led by former Congressman Bob Livingston. Calongne has over 10 years of clinical and management experience in hospital and health organizations. She also brings 7 years of experience in graduate medical education and held an adjunct faculty position with the LSU School of Social Work for 5 years.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson appointed Laurinda Calongne as a member of the Council on Graduate Medical Education (COGME) on November 15, 2001. In this capacity, she represented all teaching hospitals in the United States to this Presidential Council and to Congress. In this capacity, she co-authored numerous Reports to Congress, Congressional Briefings and served on the Institute of Medicine’s Crossing the Quality Chasm subcommittee. Calongne has the distinction of being the only Louisianian and the first social worker ever appointed to COGME. Calongne is respected at both the state and national levels and began a consulting career to assist Louisiana hospitals and communities navigate federal and state regulations, research and develop award winning grants. Since her firm’s inception, RRC has been successful in securing millions in grant awards for Louisiana communities and hospitals.


Calongne has been involved in a variety of national and state organizations. She served as Board Member to the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work and is past-president and board member for the Louisiana Hospital Association’s Social Work Managers in Health Care. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Society for Teachers of Family Medicine. In 2002, Louisiana Governor Mike Foster appointed Calongne to the Federal Resources and Pathway Committee of the Louisiana Health Works Commission. In this capacity Calongne served as a federal advisor to the committee assisting in outlining methods of identifying federal grants.

Laurinda Merritt Calongne is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a graduate of Tulane University where she received the Master of Social Work degree. She completed her Master of Education degree with a Fellowship in Medical Education from University of Southern California. She also earned a Bachelor of Science from Nicholls State University.
